IPID 12th International Annual Symposium 2017 (Graduate Student’s Track at IFIP9.4)

The International Network for Postgraduate Students in the area of ICT4D (IPID) annual symposium (2017) has been integrated into IFIP9.4 conference as a conference track (Track 12: IPID and Graduate Student Track). The goal is to publish student research papers in conference proccedings and or Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries(EJISDC). Refer to the call for papers below.

Call for papers in pdf

This track will offer a pathway for new authors to join the Social Implications of Computers in Developing Countries research community. The track will follow a similar format to those in the previous two Working Group 9.4 conferences (Kathmandu and Jamaica).

The track will accept full papers across the range of topic areas within the conference theme i.e., ICTs for promoting social harmony: Towards a sustainable information society. The papers will be reviewed by suitably qualified reviewers identified by the track chairs. The submitted papers must not have been previously published.

This track will offer (an optional) submission deadline two months earlier than the main conference, in order to provide a preliminary round of formative feedback on submissions to authors prior to the main submission deadline.

Submissions should be in the form of full papers which, if accepted, will be included in the conference proceedings. Authors of accepted papers will be invited to submit to a Special Issue of the Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries (EJISDC).

Information about IFIP9.4 conference and how to submit papers

IFIP9.4 Conference (May 22-24, 2017) will be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and hosted by Universitas Islam Indonesia in collaboration with Sanata Dharma University.

Officially designated as Working Group 9.4 of the International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP) the group has the following aims:

  • To collect, exchange and disseminate experiences of developing countries;
  • To develop a consciousness amongst professionals, policy makers and public on social implications of computers in developing nations;
  • To develop criteria, methods, and guidelines for design and implementation of culturally adapted information systems;
  • To create a greater interest in professionals from industrialized countries to focus on issues of special relevance to developing countries through joint activities with other Technical Committees.

Travel Grants

IPID in collaboration with IFIP9.4 will provide partial travel grants of 6000SEK to eight postgraduate students (each) with the best papers. For more information about travel grants send an email to info@ipid.se
